Another dumpster filled
We had a great week demolishing the front entryway this week! Thanks to the help of Bill on Thursday we got this wall in front of the stairs torn down:
Then in the afternoon Thursday, Austin tore the other side down. Today the front looked like this when we arrived at the cafe for the day:
This was the display area to the left:
And the display area to the right:
We got to work first tearing off some parts of the entryway door.
We then cut the screws holding it in and lowered it down.
Here's the view after removing the door.
We then cut tore down the wall above the door: here it is on the floor :-)
After lunch Nathan and Priscila came over to lend a hand (they stayed until 7pm! Thanks so much guys!!!!). Austin and Missy tried their luck at bringing down the whole wall on one side and the ceiling came with it! I'm sure we scared some passerby's when they heard the huge bang when it fell.
Here's Nathan trying to tear down the ceiling on the other side, this one was a bit tougher!
And, finally, here are the pictures at the end of the day after cleaning up looking toward the front of the building (we did manage to fill another 30 yard/6 ton dumpster with the work we did last weekend and this week)
Here's a pic looking into the building from outside. Ahh, it's so nice and open now :-)
Now we just have to pull down the ceiling in the middle and get rid of the raised display areas and then our demo for the facade will be done. And yes, we will be there next Saturday, feel free to stop in and help :-)
